Ventnor's Sports Café

2411 18th St, NW Adams Morgan

Ventnor Sports Café is a sports bar in Adams Morgan that offers great food, plenty of TV’s to watch and lots of libations to choose from. KLW, Suzie and I decided that we wanted to grab some wings after going on a run and Rory joined. When we got there we all ordered a different flavor so I could rate the different wings. Ventnor’s has four flavors Grilled BBQ, Thai Peanut, Buffalo and Jerk:The wings were hot and tender on the inside a very good everyday wing

1. Grilled BBQ- These wings were decent and a good size. I did enjoy that they were not overpowered by a sweet BBQ sauce. The sauce was a good happy medium of BBQ smoky and sweet to please anyone’s pallet. GOOD

2. Thai Peanut- I have heard from many people they love these wings and would rate them their favorite wings at Ventnor’s. I couldn’t give them my allover blessing because I didn’t actually eat any. I know I know before you all start bitching I can’t have peanuts because they give me migraines, which I would assume is in the Thai Peanut sauce. However, Suzie did eat these wings and she gave her own review. Suzie really liked the wings. She said the sauce was spicy and to me it looked semi thick, allowing it to stay on the wings. She said they were not overly saucy making them not too spicy but very flavorful and a go to wing any night. GOOD/EXCELLENT

3. Buffalo- These wings were the ones that KLW ordered and she let me have a couple to try. I have to admit when they came out they smelled great and looked amazing. However they were a little overcooked and the meat inside was dried out a bit. The meat may have been a little dried out due to it being a wing night special and they could have been making a massive amount in the kitchen and having some sit under heat lamps which is always going to make the meat dry out. Oddly enough KLW likes wings that are dried out and overcooked so she preferred them this way. Any regular wing eater would prefer a non-dried out wing. Other than that Ventnor’s has a great Buffalo sauce that compliments the wings. OK/GOOD (could have been better)

4. Jerk- For not being a place that specializes in Jamaican food these Jerk wings were pretty damn good. The jerk seasoning was spicy, tangy and flavorful and covered all of the wings. These wings were pretty delicious. The jerk wings were not crisp but where very hot and tender when served and I would definitely get them again. GOOD/EXCELLENT
