200 Old Mill Bottom RD Annapolis, MD
FAIR
Red Hot and Blue is a chain BBQ restaurant that has some really delicious BBQ dishes. I have always liked their pulled chicken and chicken is my least favorite meat. They also serve a pretty tasty potato salad if you like potato salad, made with red skin potatoes. My mom and I had a mommy daughter date at the Red Hot and Blue in Annapolis and I was stoked to see on the board in the front that they had a new wings flavor listed, “double trouble wings” on special. When we sat down at our table we knew right away that we were going to be ordering the wings, well at least I knew that. Red Hot and Blue was having a special where you can order an appetizer, meal and dessert for a price fix. We decided we would do that and split the two appetizers and split the two meals since we couldn’t decide if we wanted pork or chicken. Of course one of the appetizers we got was “double trouble wings”. When the wings came out they looked pretty appetizing.
The wings looked pretty tasty when they arrived and where a decent size. I was however pretty disappointed in their flavor. This is a BBQ joint and they have such great chicken dishes so why don’t they have great chicken wings too! The sauce was no good at all. It was supposed to be a mix of sweet BBQ and hot BBQ with spices mixed in making a perfect BBQ sauce covering the wing but instead it was a watered down sauce. It tasted as if they were running out of sauce in the back of the kitchen and literally added water to thin it out and then brushed it on the wings, very nasty. I always prefer a wing that is crispy but this is a BBQ smoke place so these wings were smoked and gave the meat a more tender approach which was the only half decent thing they had. I was not too fond of these wings but I made sure to at least eat all of them. If I get wings here again I would not try their new flavor’s they are trying like “double trouble” but instead try and stick to one of their classic flavors they have on their regular menu like: Mojo Mild, Hochi Coochi Hot or the Memphis Dry Wings.
