Wingo's

GOOD/EXCELLENT

3207 O St NW- Georgetown

One thing that I get a lot of is junk emails. I really hate the endless emails that come to my gmail account unless it is a deal for chicken wings. One fine day there was a deal for chicken wings at Wingo’s in Georgetown. The deal was for $30.00 worth of food. I was in the mood for some wings and decided to see if KLW would come for the ride and go along with eating wings for dinner. This establishment, if it can be called that, is very small but offers a HUGE selection of wing flavors. It is located in Georgetown and you can order ahead of time to pick your wings up but parking can be hard to find. They have a small area of delivery that they reach so I would advise ordering ahead of time and driving out with a friend who can jump out to get the order. Wingo’s itself has enough room for one person to go inside and order and then you have to wait on the sidewalk for them to pass you your wings and other items you may have ordered through their take-out window. When I eat wings I prefer to eat the flats and I love how Wingo’s gives you the option to order just flats and for all of you who like drums you can order just them as well. For the weirdo’s out there who claim they like chicken wings they have an option for you too, boneless. I enjoy my wings crispy but also with sauce on them, a very happy medium since too much sauce will make the wings soggy. Wingo’s allows you to order your wings just as you like them: Crispy, regular, dry-light sauce or wet-extra sauce. You can also switch up what sides of dipping sauce you want and the choices they offer are: blue cheese, ranch, BBQ, cheddar, gravy, honey mustard or mombo. The following is what I ordered:

1. Hot Garlic Parmesan (Flats Only, Crispy and Light-Sauce) - When I opened the box the wings were a decently large size and covered in a parmesan sauce. The sauce seemed like it separated some, which may have been enhanced from sitting in the container from the drive home. I removed the wings from the container and put them on a plate so they were not soaking in grease. As I ate them they were very flavorful and my only complaint was they were kind of greasy but that is typical of parmesan garlic wings. GOOD/EXCELLENT

2. Old Bay (Flats Only Crispy)- These wings were pretty good and I think I prefer them over the Hot Garlic Parmesan only because they were not greasy. The wings were decent and meaty and they were crispy as ordered and had just enough seasoning to give flavor without making it too salty. Many times I ordered an Old Bay wings and they are too salty these were not which allowed me to eat too many, and I am okay with that. EXCELLENT

3. Medium (Mixed – flats and drums Crispy)- So KLW likes wings but usually gets medium or a more mild flavor than I usually like but she is always a trooper and is willing to share or at least let me try one for the write-up. She specifically asked for a mix because she prefers flats but every once and while will like to have a drum. When she opened her container of wings it was 100% drums. Note to self, if you order a mix make sure the person in front of you did not order all of flats or all of drums because you are probably sure to get whatever they didn’t want. The medium wings were pretty good but for being ordered as crispy they should have been crispier. I am not sure if they got soggy form the car ride or if they were not cooked long enough, either way they were not crispy enough for KLW’s taste or mine, but still decent. GOOD
I really want to go back to Wingos sometime in the near future. They have 47 flavors and I was only able to try three! I really appreciate that they allow you to order wings as you like them. Even though Wingo’s is a small carry out place I am sure they can do some big business
