So Donna always raves about a wings place that delivers to her house and is also decently priced. Two things I love in life, 1) good tasting wings 2) wings that are cheap! As I started my trek this summer living the homeless/vagabond life one of my stops on the way was to live with Donna R. We had discussed many times that when I arrive to stay with her we would for sure be ordering from Wings Over Washington. An extra bonus with Wings Over Washington is they had a Living Social Deal which I had bought into and it gave us $20.00 to spend on wings! Scott G called earlier and told Donna he had a personal keg he had to kick and wanted to bring it over. What a grand idea Greg, beer and wings! So the three of us decided to order a shit ton of wings:
1. After Burner- This name describes the wing perfectly. The wing is hot and spicy and has an after burn that leaves your mouth with a tingle. The best part about this wing is that is has a lingering burn from the spices but also has great flavor. I think this is an excellent wing for being so spicy! EXCELLENT
2. Honey BBQ- This wing is very saucy for those of you who love a wing that is covered in goo. My big pet peeve about wings that are too saucy is that it makes the fried wing get all soggy. These wings were covered in a sauce but surprising to me they were still crispy. The sauce was definitely sweet with your basic BBQ sauce flavor. GOOD
3. Kickin BBQ- If a menu has multiple BBQ sauce wings listed I do enjoy getting more than one and comparing them. Personally I enjoyed this BBQ better than the honey BBQ because I really don’t enjoy a sweet wing very often. The sauce on these wings were definitely spicier than they were sweet from the BBQ and also had a little tang to them. If you had to choose between the Honey BBQ and the Kickin BBQ I would say eat the Kicken, the flavor is decent and not too sweet, but could always be a little bit spicier. EXCELLENT
4. Garlic Parmesan- Many wings that have a Garlic Parmesan flavor are covered in an unappetizing white sticky sauce. Yes, I know it looks just like what your dirty mind is thinking about! However this flavor to the wings is pretty good for a garlic parmesan. Wing Hub has theirs done with a dry rub instead of a white goo so they are much more appealing and taste good too. These wings were not overly salty either which most garlic and parmesan wings are. GOOD
5. Red Alert- When I first saw this delivery box on Donna’s table I was ready for the heat and spice to hit me. Then I reached for the box, opened it, grabbed a wing, took and bite and was sadly disappointed. These wings have a name that should put fear on your tongue. With a name like “red alert” you would expect the wings to be super spicy. I was sadly mistaken since these wings were no more than a typical buffalo style. They had a slight burning taste to them but not enough to match the name. FAIR
6. Jamaican Jerk- This is not the ultimate Jamaican jerk wing in the area but it is the best I have had so far. The wings are covered in a wet sauce that has an overpowering amount of spices to make the “Jamaican” flavor. These are semi decent for trying to make them jerk and I would get them again but they are not my favorite from Wings Over Washington. FAIR
7. Cajun Teriyaki- Now this flavor combo is a weird mix. Cajun with the mixed spice flavor put with a teriyaki sauce doesn’t seem like it would be an ideal pair. I did however enjoy these wings. They were a good size wing and were still crispy even though they had the sauce on them. You can definitely taste the sweet flavor from the teriyaki but there isn’t much spice or heat coming through from the Cajun flavor. I could see this being a better wing if there was more Cajun flavor to up the spice. FAIR/GOOD
Overall this place has decent wings with a lot of flavor. All of the wings seemed to be a good size and most were still crispy even after being covered in a sauce and put in a box for delivery. I am definitely jealous of Donna and her location since she could potentially order these wings every day. Wings Over Washington also prices their wings fairly which makes it more appealing to eat on a regular basis.
