Jam Doung Style, Jamaican & American Cuisine

1726 N. Capitol St NW

EXCELLENT

Every time I eat wings I compare the flavor, size and what the name of the wing is to how it tastes. If I go to a place and there is a Jamaican style wing on the menu I order it because I love Jamaican Jerk. I have been disappointed over and over again by the endless restaurants who try to make a Jamaican wing. Jason R knows how much I love wings and he himself is a food connoisseur so he decided we should get some wings while I was staying in the area where he lives. He said he knew this great little Jamaican joint around the corner we could pop into to grab some wings real quick. When we got to the shop it was definitely small and family run. It was like stepping into a small restaurant in Jamaica and going back to “island” time. If you don’t know what “island” time is I recommend you take a trip to Jamaica to learn. Jason and I ordered both of the flavor wings they carry, BBQ and Jerk:

1. BBQ- As I say over and over again I do not go to a wing place and seek out BBQ wings. However these BBQ wings were pretty tasty. They had spices mixed into the BBQ sauce giving it a very unique flavor. The wings were small in size but the flavor made up for the small size wings. As I went to pick up the wing I found the meat to literally fall off the bone it was so tender. The meat was so delicious and tender it almost seemed like it had been smoked. GOOD

2. Jerk- THANK YOU! I have finally found a Jerk wing that takes me back to Jamaica. I guess that is my bad…why would I assume some random restaurant would know how to make a proper jerk sauce? I should have started at a Jamaican restaurant to begin with. These wings also small in size but big in flavor had an amazing tasty spice. This is definitely a homemade spicy jerk seasoning sauce. The meat on these wings, like the BBQ, literally falls off the bones as you try to eat them. The heat from the spice does linger a little but is bearable for those who do not like spicy food. EXCELLENT
