Hawk 'n' Dove

329 Pennsylvania Ave. SE

NEVER AGAIN

Some days after a long endless day of work all I want is wings. I crave them. I want a spicy, steaming buffalo wing that stings as you eat them. This is what I was aiming for when I went to Hawk ‘n’ Dove. I was intrigued by their menu when it said their Buffalo wings were, “hot, spicy chicken in a tangy BBQ sauce.” I really wish whoever wrote this menu would have tried the wings before writing that. I was starving by the time the food came out and was beyond disappointed. These chicken wings were so small they should have been called chicken wing tips. When I bit the first “wing tip” they were overcooked and the meat was dry inside, super nasty and chewy. Now I don’t know about you but I do not like chewy dried out wings. The sauce was just another problem on the plate. The “tangy BBQ” sauce was so funky I can’t even tell you what it tasted like. It was more of a mix of Asian sauce meets wild west and NOT in a good way. I was highly disappointed by these wings being labeled Buffalo wings when they were covered in this funky ass sauce and had no spice or heat to them. If these were the last wings on earth I would not eat them. Hawk ‘n’ Dove even does a wing night on Wednesday where their wings are on special. If these were free I wouldn’t eat them. Whoever dares eat these wings beware they are disgusting. My only positive note of the wings was that they served a really good blue cheese and ranch dressing on the side. Sadly I needed to use both to cover up the chewy nasty taste of their wings.
