The Exchange

1719 G Street NW

FAIR

The Exchange offers two kinds of wings on their menu: Buffalo wings or Terrapin wings. They claim that the difference between the Buffalo and the Terrapin wings is that they pour a hot spicy sauce over the Terrapin wings after they are cooked to make them extra hot. It really makes me sad when my sports team goes to bars such as The Exchange and I look forward to wings on a weekly basis and I am so greatly disappointed in them. Paul J, Hilary M and Grace M went early one day to The Exchange to grab some grub and drinks before Grace M had to return back to New York and we were all pretty disappointed in the wings. Hilary M, Grace M and I all ordered the Buffalo style wings and Paul J went with the Terrapin wings. When the wings came out they were all served with celery, carrots and a very tasty blue cheese dressing. The dressing was probably the best part of the dish. The Buffalo style wings were nice and crispy and a good size however I was greatly disappointed in them being named “Buffalo” wings because they had no flavor at all. All three of us had to ask for a side of hot sauce just to give these wings some flavor. These should have been named “naked” wings, “plain” wings, “fried” wings or “sucky” wings… anything BUT “buffalo” wings. The wings that Paul J had where slightly better since they at least had some flavor with the hot sauce on them. I will have to go back and get this as my order next time to compare the two. I should have known you always go hot when ordering wings.
