Mad Hatter

1319 Connecticut Ave NW

GOOD

I know, I know, I know people are probably getting used to calling me a wing scrooge since I have been writing no “good” or “excellent” wing reviews. Well for all of you out there waiting here is a “GOOD” rating! I know they DO exist! I went to Mad Hatter’s in Dupont to use my Living Social Deal and decided to get some wings and drinks and then spend the rest of the night enjoying the company of friends. I went early and got some wings with Baily. I was a little skeptical but people have said the food here is pretty good. Mad Hatter’s offers three types of wings: BBQ, Buffalo and Smoked. I was intrigued by the smoked wing but when I asked the server about them she stated they were all out I was so close to kicking my feet and pounding my fists in a temper tantrum until I realized… wait it is my freakin Birthday and temper tantrums are so 2010. At that point I decided to just go with the typical Buffalo style wing. I have to admit there is nothing that brings happiness than when the wings arrive and you smell the yummy goodness of Buffalo sauce wafting up towards you from a large pile of large sized chicken wings. When I bit into these wings they were steaming hot and definitely had the perfect crispiness to the outside skin and were not soggy from sitting in sauce too long. The meat was tender and juicy and not over cooked or had been sitting under a heat lamp to dry out, they were just pretty darn delicious. I would definitely get them again but I would also like to go back and try the smoked wings since they are a different style and seem to be popular since they were all out at 5:30pm when I arrived.
