The Mighty Pint

1831 M Street NW

NEVER AGAIN

I went to the Might Pint because I had a coupon from “What’s The Deal” which was about to expire. I was glad to know that The Mighty Pint at least had wings on their menu. I was little surprised to see the type of wings they offered though. The options in wings are Buffalo, Old Bay and Citrus Honey-Chipotle BBQ. Now Buffalo and Old Bay are pretty normal flavors for wings but the third wing listed seemed a little farfetched and too many flavors mixed into one to be good. Sad to say my prediction was right. I went with Baily and we decided to order one full order of Old Bay wings, since I usually like them the best and a full order split of the Buffalo and the Citrus Honey-Chipotle BBQ wings. When the wings came out I will have to say they were a really good size. All of the wings were very large and there weren’t any tiny crap wings. My biggest issue was that all the wings were breaded and then fried which takes away from the meat flavor of the wings. Wings shouldn’t be served breaded… if I wanted breaded chicken I would order fried chicken from KFC or Popeye’s. The Old Bay wings were my favorite from this establishment, that isn’t saying much, but as I continued to eat them my love for them dwindled. They were breaded, fried and covered in a salty Old Bay type seasoning which was salty and okay for a few wings then got too salty and over powering. A couple of these bad boys and you would be downing drinks left and right, I guess it is a good idea for a bar to serve so people order more drinks. The Buffalo style wings were also breaded and then covered in a Buffalo style sauce. This sauce was crappy though. Since the wings were breaded the spice and heat from the sauce was all muted and almost nonexistent. There was no burning or spice and barley any vinegar that could be smelled. The funky mixture that came with the Citrus Honey-Chipotle BBQ wings was disgusting. I would never eat these wings again. They were definitely sticky and gooey from the sauce they were covered in after being breaded and fried. The sauce on the wings had no citrus taste to them and definitely no chipotle. If something is labeled chipotle is should have some heat and smokiness. These wings tasted like a sticky, sweet, overly nasty BBQ wing. Needless to say I would not eat the wings at The Mighty Pint again. They claim their name is Mighty but they fail in the wing department.
