Pizza Hut

3311 Lee Highway, Arlington, VA

FAIR

Maggie, Troy and I decided it would be a good idea to partake in the Wednesday Wing Street Special at Pizza Hut and try and order all the wings on the menu that are offered except plain. I mean really who cares about plain? If you want plain then why not just order regular chicken. The following is a list of the wings we got and the different opinions on each.

1. Garlic Parmesan:
When these wings arrived Troy and I were pretty stoked about trying them. It isn’t too often that you can get a wing that is covered in garlic and parmesan cheese… however, when we opened the box we had some second thoughts. The wings looked like someone had splooged all over them, and you could smell the saltiness which didn’t make it any better! Well I have a rule that I have to try at least one of every kind of wing I purchase no matter how nasty they look, so of course I dove right into this one. Maggie gave me a disgusted look as the white sauce dripped off my fingers and got all over me. She did not partake in tasting the garlic parmesan wing. The wing itself was definitely garlicky and very salty with way too much sauce; I assume there was some chicken somewhere under that white goo. FAIR

2. Burning Hot: These wings were maybe the favorite of the group and we ate all that came in the little brown box. Though one fault with the wing is that if you have the name “burning hot” it should probably burn a little. They were mildly spicy but by far they were not burning hot. These wings had a slight kick but are definitely bearable. If you really really really don’t like hot stuff then maybe don’t get them but overall they are pretty good and I would order them again. GOOD

3. Spicy BBQ: If I say it once I will say it over and over and over again… don’t name your wing “spicy BBQ” and not have any spice to it! That is one thing that really makes this a fail. These wings were covered in a sticky BBQ sauce, where the poor little wings were swimming in a not spicy mixture but more of a smoky BBQ sauce. The sauce had a sweet side to it but not too sweet that is was unbearable. I enjoy wings were I can actually taste the meat and the sauce this sauce did drown out the meat a bit but was still bearable. I would say these were the third favorite of all the wings. FAIR

4. Spicy Asian: Yes, I know many of you think this is the name of Will L. when he gets all mad or starts to lose at kickball or sees his precious Bears/Cubs fail (like they always do ZING) but in reality this was the name of a wing they had, believe it or not! This wing tasted kind of like every kickball players dance moves after too many drinks in Admo, FUNKY! There was absolutely no spice to the wing unless you call soy sauce a spice, but I think they were trying to say “spice” as his heat. This wing had a sweet soy sauce taste to it that made Maggie, Troy and I all turn our noses at. It was totally one nasty Spicy Asian. NEVER AGAIN

5. Honey BBQ: WOW! The name of this wing is right on… if you like honey and you like BBQ then you would like these wings. However, if you want a cavity with your wings that is what you are ordering. These wings are super sweet with a smoky taste to give it the BBQ flavor. You can definitely tell they have the honey flavor with the sugary sweet taste, a little too sweet for my taste. I prefer savory over sweet so these were totally not my kind of wing. NEVER AGAIN

6. Mild: We decided we would settle for the mild wing also so we could compare it to the “Burning Hot” wing and we found out that there wasn’t much to the mild wing. They weren’t bad they just didn’t have much flavor in terms of a sauce on them, which I guess would make them a true MILD wing. If you really are opposed to any heat/spice on your wing then these are pretty good. I would rate these as the second best because they were pretty true to the name of the wing and still had some good flavor. GOOD

Over all we at a lot of wings from Pizza Hut. I learned that Pizza Hut does not have the best kind of wings but they are bearable and overall they would have a rating of FAIR. Troy, Maggie and I all wanted to try the Cajun wing but apparently only certain Pizza Hut’s franchises carry them. The girl that worked at this location was very confused when we saw the Cajun wings on the menu and asked if she carried them. She never gave us an answer if they actually had the Cajun wings or not so we never were able to try them. If anyone has had them please let me know what you think… I am also in search of a good Cajun wing; I have yet to find a good one in D.C. so far.
