Oohhs & Aahhs

1005 U Street NW

GOOD

Oohhs & Aahhs is a soul food restaurant in the heart of the U street corridor located at 10th and U Street. They offer a variety of delicious home cooked food and have a pretty tiny establishment but the food has a big bang. They also have a couple different wing options on their menu which are: BBQ, Buffalo, Lemon Pepper and Teriyaki. When going to order the wings I asked which were the most popular and Jason R. and I were informed that their Buffalo hot wings are the most popular. When the wings were served they came piping hot and the vinegar in the sauce you could smell and feel the sting in your nose. These are not your average buffalo hot wing, but instead they are a hot wing with some soul food flavoring in them. The wings are breaded and fried and then covered in their own buffalo hot wing sauce which you can see the different ingredients they use to make up the spice mix. The wings are meaty and are a good size and the flavor of the hot wing is definitely there. You can taste the vinegar and maybe a little too much but their seasoning mix in the sauce is unique and pretty tasty. These wings are unique for a buffalo style type wing and I would try them again but I wish they would just use a tad less vinegar.
