FAIR
Usually I can get through a day of work and not have a crazy craving for wings. However this day was different because Kaitlyn D kept talking about how she really wanted to get some wings after work and before her classes started. As soon as someone mentions it I can’t get the idea of eating wings out of my head. Maggie H and I were planning on meeting up after she went to the gym and I went running to grab some wings. I mean what could you want more after running and the gym than a mixed drink and helping of wings. Since the workout ended in the Dupont Circle area we decided we would try Buffalo Billiards since it was close and they offer a Tuesday night wing special that consists of: 10 wings - $5.00, 20 wings - $10.00, 30 wings - $15.00. Buffalo Billiards has on their menu five different wing flavors which are: Cajun, Jamaican Jerk, BBQ, Traditional and Teriyaki. We decided we would try 2 flavors each and split them among ourselves and skip on the Teriyaki flavor since neither of us really cares much for Teriyaki flavor.
1. Cajun- These wings had spices on them to make them seem like a Cajun rub but they were slightly greasey and needed to be fried or baked or something! The skin on the outside was too soggy making it not to appetizing. Not the best in Cajun style wings. They would have been better if they were crispy. FAIR
2. BBQ- These wings are your typical BBQ style sweet followed by a slight vinegar tasting sauce. Maggie H really liked these wings because of their sweet BBQ flavor. They were okay to me but then again I don’t like wings that are covered in a sauce because then they tend to get all gooey. GOOD
3. Jamaican Jerk- These wings were okay. The wings had spices on them to give them a slight spicy flavor. When you first bit into the wing there was a sweet sauce followed by the slightest hint of a tingle hotness, but there was no zing to them for the authenticity. Jamaican Jerk sauce is spicy for all those trying to make Jamaican wings FAIR
4. Traditional- These are called traditional wings meaning they are supposed to be a “traditional” buffalo style wing. Sadly they were not very hot at all and I would probably name them a mild wing. They would be good for those who had very chapped lips or can’t take the heat at all. FAIR
Overall Buffalo Billiards wings are FAIR. I would probably be forced to get them again because I would go there to watch games and I love eating wings and watching games… they just go hand-in-hand. However I really wish they would improve their wings by cooking them a little longer/frying them a little longer to give them a crispier outside and not having them be so soggy. The soggy outside really throws the entire wing off. Also some of the other flavor spices need to be heightened up a bit especially if they are supposed to be hot.
