Wing Hub

4914 Cordell Ave (Bethesda, MD)

So for all of you who know me you will know I am very cheap and hate spending money. So yes, like everyone else I stalk all the stupid emails and deal sites that roll around every day that tell me I can spend $10 and get $25 worth of food and drink at a bar. When I see that all I can think of is wings, wings and more wings! When I saw the deal for Wing Hub in Bethesda I first said to myself, “Hells NO am I going all the way to Bethesda… I don’t travel to the 50 states, I live in the District.” Then I thought to myself, well I do have some Das Boot friends that reside out there and I am from the grand state of Maryland and it is nice to go back every once and while and touch the soil. So I contacted some Booters in the area to see if they would be down to get wings at Wing Hub. Obviously they were down to get wings. When Andy S. and I got there we met up with Josh B. The menu has many choices which include: REGULAR (heat)- Garlic Parmesan, Mild BBQ, Teriyaki, Old Bay, Honey Mustard, Honey Hickory, Lemon Pepper. PLUS (heat)-Racing BBQ, Cajun, Old School. SUPER (heat) - Blazing BBQ, Red Hot. ULTRA (heat)- Reckless & Dangerous, Kiss of the Demon… these are the kinds we tried:

1. Garlic Parmesan- These wings are definitely covered in thick parmesan crust. The after taste has a garlic flavor which will linger a bit and give you some funky breath. The wings are also a bit buttery and greasy and sitting in that makes them not too appealing. Josh was not a big fan of these at all. However if you needed a wing to cool down after eating a hot wing these were okay since they had so much cheese on them. FAIR

2. Blazing BBQ- These wings were the favorite of groups. They were also the hottest wing level we ordered. I defiantly do not like BBQ wings because I do not like sweet tasting foods in general. These BBQ wings on the other hand were pretty darn good. They had a smoky, semi- sweet flavor that also had a kick of heat to it. I think the sweetness was killed a little by the spice which made for a great tasting BBQ wing. GOOD/EXCELLENT

3. Honey Hickory- These wings taste just as they are called. They have sweet honey stickiness with smoky flavor. These wings may be breaded but they are definitely not soggy. They for sure have a good little crisp to the breading. I have never had a really crispy breaded wing. I am not one for sweet but these were pretty good. GOOD

4. Cajun- I still have yet to find a wing that has a traditional Cajun spice to them. I guess people who make wings have never had actual Cajun food or traveled to try Cajun cooking. Because these are not Cajun. They are a funky spice wing but still taste pretty good. FAIR

5. Old School- I love the name because these wings are just a traditional medium/hot spicy wing that is similar to a buffalo style. Yes they are breaded but Wing Hub knows how to get a good crisp in the fryer on these wings which is ideal. I would definitely order these wings on regular basis because they are just your every day kickback and eat a shit ton kind of wing during a long sports game. GOOD/EXCELLENT

I have to say Andy S., Josh and I had a good time eating these wings…Andy S. even got the sweats… literally. I mean in his defense he never ate hot food until he was an adult and now that he is going to be a daddy soon he eats all sorts of hot things… ZING!
Overall Wing Hub does have breaded wings but they are not soggy wings which is a great thing to know. I really hate soggy wings but I have never had a good breaded wing that is crispy and Wing Hub knows how to do it. I have a feeling it means they are deep frying these suckers and at a high temperature… oh my heart is thanking me now!
