Wings to Go: Guest Review by Wingman Minard

1814 Highway 1 Dewey Beach, DE

FAIR

Wings To Go is a popular late night spot for drunken munchies (did I just coin the term drunchies?) in Dewey Beach, right up there with Grotto Pizza. And while this isn't a pizza review, I can safely say that Mama Celeste's pizza kicks the ASS out of Grotto. I'm sure Wings To Go is nice when you've got the "drunchies," but when we got it for takeout around lunchtime, it wasn't really worth shaking a celery stick at.

MEDIUM: Angie always hates when the name of the wing doesn't correspond to the actual taste. Angie would hate this wing. This should be labeled mild as there was no kick whatsoever. They were not very meaty, and were dry and actually a little charred. Then there is just a pool of sauce in the bottom of the box with no real taste at all. If you like drippy, dry, tasteless wings, go for these. Otherwise: NEVER AGAIN.

EXTRA HOT: Angie would hate this name too. It was barely hot, probably just a borderline Medium. These weren't as "saucy" as the medium's, but that's a good thing. It was more of a powdery hot "sauce" (if you can call powder a sauce?). They were a little more meaty than the Mediums, and had a decent slow-burn aftertaste. To call them "Extra Hot" gets only a FAIR. If they were called "Medium" they'd almost be GOOD, if you like a slow-burn powder texture. This was Nancy's favorite. FAIR

BUFFALO GARLIC: I convinced my "wingmen" to try some of the crazier sauces. Buffalo Garlic had a little more kick to it, with a nice sauce consistency (i.e. not drippy OR powdery). It wasn't overpoweringly garlicky, but it couldn't have probably used a bit more. Really it was more like a plain Buffalo. It was almost buttery. Angie doesn't have this rating but I'll go DECENT.

BAR-B-CIDE: I liked this one the best. It had a nice tangy BBQ flavor, with a good coating of sauce. it was a thick & sticky BBQ sauce. Honestly, though, to call it "BAR-B- CIDE" it really should be a lot hotter. This was more like a plain BBQ Wing. Granted, I like my BBQ Wings, so I'd give it a GOOD for that. But if you expect it to be a combination of BBQ and Suicide, you'll be disappointed, and probably say FAIR. I liked it though. GOOD/FAIR

Lessons learned:
1) Always get your Wings To Go hotter than you think you want. Probably 2 levels hotter.2) Get Drangrie and go at 2 AM with the rest of 'dem Dewey fools!

This is AWESOME!!! and now I really need to get down to Dewey. Also, I agree with what you have said Minard, I probably would not have liked the sauce that doesn't live up to it's name or some creepy mix that is powdery, GROSS! Thanks for the review :o)

You didnt care for wings to go?!?!
Hmmm...I thought they were good but I never got them in Dewey Beach. I probably wouldn't expect much coming from there anyways. I think mine came from Columbia, MD and I got them for a tailgate.

Glad to be of service, my Wing Queen! And Troy, overall it really was disappointing, but maybe if you follow my lessons learned your experience will be better. Like I said, though, I did like the Bar-B-cide as long as you don't expect it to actually be hot.

Also, for the record, Mama Celeste's pizza gets a GREAT! ;-)
